I’ve just currently finished my Year in Year 6, so here are some tips to look out for all throughout the year.
Don’t go to your friends’ Secondary schools. I would say to choose the one that may be best suitable, which (coincidentally) for me, was the same one as my friends.
Do not over-study. As you have got SATs, do no cram information at the last minute. Space your home studies out. English, Maths and Reading are a must to study at least 2 times a week.
You do not NEED to make friends. I would say that the only circumstance that you would need to is when you don’t have any.
Homework. Teachers WILL give you more homework than usual solely due to the fact that you have exams at the end of the year. Do not complain. It will not end will if you do.
After all the studying and tests, have fun. If you find this stupid, you will be surprised at how many people find this information useful.
When you receive your scores, there are a few things to remember.
It is completely appropriate to be sad about your scores. Although, your scores do not reflect who you are. SATs are tested in 3 subjects. There are many more.
It is also appropriate to overreact about your scores, as long as you are aware of your surroundings. For example, if you are in a library, obviously do not scream or shout, but if you are with family, you should be able to use your judgement to choose how to react. I was with my class and teachers when opening it, and I shouted.
DO NOT COMPARE. You shouldn’t compare your scores to your friends. You can ask for them, but do not judge it. Because, in the end, you both had to endure the same test and both had to work hard to get the scores you got.
